Accessibility
Drivling should work for everyone learning to drive.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This statement covers drivling.co.uk.
What we've done
- Guides and test centre information use Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed to be easy to read.
- Text colours are checked automatically against WCAG AA contrast in both the day and night drive.
- Everything can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
- Animations are turned off if your device asks for reduced motion.
- The Daily Drive timer can be switched off, and your choice is remembered.
- Pixel art has a text description where it matters, and is hidden from screen readers where it's decoration.
- Every test centre on the map is also in a list with the same information.
- Pages work at 375 pixels wide (a small phone), and you can zoom in.
What isn't perfect yet
- The test centre map itself is hard to use with a screen reader. Please use the list beside it, which has everything the map shows.
- Headings and buttons use a pixel-style typeface for the game look. Body text uses the easy-to-read typeface.
- The Daily Drive share text uses coloured square emoji, which some screen readers read out one by one.
- We have tested with automated tools and by keyboard, but not yet with disabled users. We'd welcome feedback.
Tell us about a problem
